It is a long nation on the southern end of Burrozil, bordering a mountain range to the east, an arid desert to the north, and the ocean to the west.
Swamp Land started when a Przewalskian empire colonized these lands, enslaving and assimilating the native bison tribes.
Soon, the Swamp Land-born ponies declared independence from the empire, establishing a republic of land barons and oligarchs. This republic was aligned with the goals and ideologies of the New Lunar Republic (NLR), functionally a vassal state. The NLR even pushed Swamp Land to war with its neighbors, to expand it's resource extraction of nitrates, like guano and saltpetre, useful for farming. Any land reform and socially progressive policy was discouraged and sabotaged by NLR Intelligence Agencies, even installing a dictatorship at one point.
But now, a huge democratic movement has overthrown the old order and established a different type of democratic republic.
